By downloading or using BoatLedger (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by Flint Software, an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F); references to "we," "us," and "our" mean that developer.
BoatLedger is a personal records-organizer for U.S. recreational boat owners. You enter information about your vessels, safety equipment, registrations, and boater education certificates. The App helps you organize that information, computes deterministic expiry dates from manufacture dates (flares = 42 months; disposable fire extinguishers = 12 years per 33 CFR §175.320), references publicly available 50-state registration cycles and NASBLA boater education state requirements, optionally adds deadlines to your iPhone Calendar, and generates Safety Equipment Checklist PDFs for your own use.
The App is free to download and use, with the following limits: 1 vessel, 3 safety equipment items, reference content for 5 states (Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, California), basic Calendar integration for registration deadlines only, the full USCG federal equipment rules, and 1 boater education card. The 3-organization reference stack (BoatUS, NASBLA, USCG Auxiliary) is always visible.
Pro features unlock when you start a Pro subscription or complete the Lifetime purchase. Three products are offered:
All three products unlock the identical Pro feature set. Prices shown are USD; Apple displays the equivalent local price at purchase time.
Annual and Monthly subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before that end. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. You can manage and cancel your subscription in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iOS device. Refunds for the unused portion of an active period are not offered by BoatLedger; refund eligibility is determined solely by Apple under its published policies. The Lifetime purchase is a single charge with no recurring billing.
If you start the 7-day free trial on Annual and cancel during the trial, you keep Pro access through the end of the trial and are not charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription begins at the end of the trial at the published price. Monthly has no trial.
Pro provides the following features. The behavior described here is binding on us — if a future App update materially changes any of these descriptions, we will revise this section.
App Lock is a Free feature that uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework (Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode) to gate access to the App. Biometric data never leaves Apple's Secure Enclave; the App receives only a success/failure result. App Lock can be enabled or disabled in Settings > Privacy at any time.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, through Apple, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, missed registration deadlines, missed equipment expiry dates, USCG boarding outcomes, insurance coverage disputes, or any safety outcome. Reference content and expiry calculations are tools for your use; we do not guarantee that any USCG inspector, state agency, or court will accept or be bound by them.
Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms govern as between you and us; the Apple EULA governs as between you and Apple.
All product, organization, and agency names referenced in the App and in this document — including but not limited to USCG, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, NASBLA, BoatUS, U.S. Power Squadrons, and the various state Departments of Motor Vehicles, Fish & Wildlife, and Natural Resources — belong to their respective holders. BoatLedger is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any listed entity.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
