Is there a Dealward server holding my claims and evidence?
No. There is no Dealward server. Your warranty and incentive claims, evidence items, chargeback events, and audit dates live in this app's local SwiftData store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.
Does Dealward connect to my DMS or to a manufacturer's system?
No. Dealward makes no connection to any dealer management system (CDK, Reynolds, or any other), any manufacturer or OEM portal, any cloud service, or any government motor vehicle board. Everything you record is typed or photographed by you and stays on the device. The app cannot submit a claim, file a dispute, or check an audit on your behalf.
What about the photos I attach to evidence items?
Photos you capture with the camera or import from your library are stored locally on your device as display-only attachments to your evidence items. They are never uploaded. Camera and Photo Library access are requested only at the moment you tap "Add photo," and only if you use that optional Pro feature.
Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?
No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no AI service, and no advertising identifier. We do not know how often you open the app, which screens you visit, how many claims you track, or whether you subscribed — except through Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.
How does the state dealer-law reference work?
Entirely on your iPhone. The state motor-vehicle dealer-law and chargeback-protection reference (for example California Vehicle Code sections 3065 and 3075, and comparable Illinois, Florida, and North Carolina provisions) is bundled content drawn from publicly available regulations, updated through ordinary App Store releases. It is reference material, not legal advice, and nothing about consulting it is sent anywhere.
Does anything go to iCloud?
Dealward declares no iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no remote sync. Your records — including photos — are included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder) when you have those enabled. That is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data, not a Dealward feature.
A vehicle VIN is a vehicle identifier, not a personal government ID. This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when enabled; we have no access to those backups — only Apple does, under its published terms. If you delete the app without an iOS Backup, your data is permanently lost. There is no in-app export, import, or backup feature beyond the Defense PDF you generate.
aps-environment entitlement.Dealward offers an optional Pro tier (a monthly subscription and an annual subscription) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, restore a purchase, or the app verifies entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Dealward receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings > Dealward. Dealward requests no location, microphone, contacts, or HealthKit permission.
Dealward is a personal record-keeping and reference tool for dealer service departments. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any manufacturer, OEM, dealer management system, dealer organization (including NADA), or government motor vehicle board. It uses no such logo or mark, submits records to no external system, and is not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice, does not determine whether a chargeback is valid, does not predict hearing outcomes, and does not guarantee that any record will satisfy a manufacturer, an auditor, or a board.
Dealward is a professional tool intended for U.S. adults working in a dealer service department. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Dealward data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.
Dealward is published in English and marketed in the United States. The reference data (state motor-vehicle dealer law) is U.S.-specific. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.
If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
