Is there a Hooklog server holding my patterns and stash?
No. There is no Hooklog server. Your projects, imported pattern text, yarn stash, hooks, photos, and timer history live in this app's local store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.
The patterns I import are copyrighted. Where do they go?
They stay on your device, for your personal use, and nowhere else. Hooklog has no pattern-sharing surface: no public library, no marketplace, no way to send parsed pattern text to another person. Finished-object share cards and seller cost sheets reference a pattern's title only — never its instructions. We built the app this way on purpose, out of respect for the designers who write patterns.
Does the parser or the count checker send my pattern anywhere?
No. The pattern parser, the stitch-count checker, and the US/UK terminology engine are pure on-device logic. Your pasted pattern text is analyzed locally and never transmitted. The abbreviation and US/UK terminology tables are uncopyrightable factual data authored in-house and bundled with the app.
Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?
No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier in the app. We do not know how often you open Hooklog, how many projects you track, or whether you purchased Pro — except through Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.
Does anything go to my iCloud or Apple ID?
No. Hooklog does not declare the iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no cross-device sync. Your records are included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder) when those are enabled — that is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data, not a Hooklog feature.
This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when you have those enabled. We do not have access to your iOS Backups — only Apple does, under their published terms. If you delete Hooklog without an iOS Backup, your data is permanently lost. There is no in-app account, and no cross-device sync.
aps-environment entitlement.Hooklog offers an optional Pro upgrade (a one-time Lifetime purchase and Annual / Monthly subscriptions) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you purchase, restore, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Hooklog receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Adding photos uses the system photo picker, which needs no permission grant. Hooklog requests no camera, no microphone, no location, no HealthKit, no contacts, and no Face ID permission. You can change notification permission any time in iOS Settings > Hooklog.
Hooklog is a personal crochet recordkeeping and counting tool. It is not a pattern marketplace, a pattern library, or a social network, and it does not host, sell, or distribute anyone's patterns. Its stitch-count check and stash math are helpers, not guarantees: the pattern's designer is the authority on the pattern, and your own yarn is the authority on whether you have enough.
Hooklog is a hobby tool intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children — because the app collects nothing.
Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Hooklog data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.
Hooklog is published in English and marketed in the United States. The US/UK terminology feature is a reading option inside the app, not a regional build difference. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.
If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
