Improvory Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-05-30 · Last updated: 2026-05-30

In short. Improvory keeps the home improvements you log — project, date, cost, contractor, permit, notes — on your iPhone only. There is no Improvory server, no account system, and no analytics. The only network call the app ever makes is to Apple's StoreKit servers to verify your subscription status. Improvory does not store receipt files or photos.

1. Who publishes Improvory

Improvory is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. The promise, stated as questions

Is there an Improvory server that holds my improvement records?

No. There is no Improvory server. Your home, your improvements, and every cost figure you enter live in this app's local SwiftData store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or transfer them.

Does Improvory calculate my taxes, my gain, or my cost basis?

No. Improvory is a recordkeeping tool, not tax software. The only arithmetic it performs is summing the dollar amounts you type in and grouping them by IRS Publication 523 category — like the total at the bottom of an expense list. It does not compute your cost basis, your capital gain, or any tax, and it does not apply any exclusion to your figures. For tax decisions, consult a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or tax professional.

Does the app store my receipts or photos?

No. Improvory records structured text only — it has no camera feature and does not store images or files. An improvement can carry a short "where the receipt is" note that you type, but the receipt itself stays in your own Files or Photos, outside Improvory.

Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or device identifiers?

No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier in the binary. We do not know how often you open the app, which screens you visit, or whether you have a paid subscription unless we look up your purchase through Apple's standard developer reports.

Where does the reference content come from?

The improvement-vs-repair guidance, the IRS Publication 523 categories, and the Section 121 concept are bundled reference data that we update through standard App Store releases. They are general information drawn from publicly available IRS resources, labeled "not tax advice." Improvory makes no API calls to the IRS or any government system.

Do you add anything to my iCloud or my Apple ID?

No. Improvory does not declare the iCloud entitlement. There is no CloudKit container and no remote sync of any kind. Your records are included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder/iTunes backup) when those are enabled — that is Apple's standard backup behavior for all on-device data, not an Improvory feature.

3. What the app stores on your device

This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when you have those enabled. We do not have access to your iOS Backups — only Apple does, under their published privacy terms. If you delete the app without an iOS Backup, your data is permanently lost. There is no in-app data export, import, or backup feature beyond summary-PDF generation.

4. On-device features that touch system frameworks

5. Subscriptions and StoreKit

Improvory offers an optional Pro tier (an annual subscription and a one-time Lifetime purchase) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, restore a purchase, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Improvory receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions the app requests

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings > Improvory. Improvory requests no camera, no microphone, no photo library, no location, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission.

7. What Improvory is not

Improvory is a personal recordkeeping tool for homeowners. It is not tax software and not a financial service. It does not calculate taxes, gain, or cost basis; it does not give tax advice; it does not process payments or connect to any bank or financial account; and it is not a substitute for a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or tax professional. References to IRS Publication 523 and the Section 121 exclusion are general information based on publicly available content and are reference-only — IRS Publication 523 is free at irs.gov.

8. Children's privacy

Improvory is a tool intended for U.S. adult homeowners. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

9. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Improvory data, delete the app from your device (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.

10. Regional scope

Improvory is published in English and is marketed in the United States. The reference data (IRS Publication 523 and the Section 121 concept) is U.S.-specific. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
