Laterlace is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.
Is there an account or a login?
No. You open the app and begin writing. There is no sign-up, no email, no password, and no profile. Nothing identifies you, because there is no one on the other end — there is no Laterlace server to send anything to.
Where do my letters live?
On this iPhone, and only here. Each letter you write, the date you choose for it to open, and the context you seal alongside it — the weather you typed in, your one-tap mood, the song you named, the time of day, and an optional selfie — are stored in the app's local database on your device. They are never uploaded, synced, or sent anywhere by Laterlace.
Does the app collect analytics or track me?
No. Laterlace contains no analytics framework, no advertising network, and no third-party tracking of any kind. It builds no profile of you and has nothing to sell or share. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
Does Laterlace use the internet?
The entire writing, sealing, and reading experience is offline. Weather is something you type in yourself — the app does not use your location or any weather service. The one and only network interaction is the in-app purchase: when you buy the unlock, or tap "Restore Purchase," the app asks Apple's App Store whether you own that purchase. That exchange is handled by Apple's StoreKit and is governed by Apple's privacy policy; Laterlace never sees your payment details.
Does the app use my camera, photos, location, contacts, or health data?
It uses none of those for its core experience and never reads your location, contacts, or health data. The Camera is used only if you choose to add an optional selfie to a letter; that photo is stored on your device, attached to that letter, and nothing else. The only other optional permission is Notifications, used to remind you on a letter's unlock day. Decline either and every other feature still works.
What about the keepsake PDF export?
If you unlock the app, you can choose to export your letters as a readable PDF. The file is generated entirely on your device and then handed to the iOS Share Sheet for you to save wherever you like (for example, the Files app, AirDrop, or email). You may optionally protect it with a password that only you set and hold. Laterlace performs no upload and keeps no copy; where the file goes next is entirely your choice. Letters that are still sealed print only their dates, not their text.
What happens to my letters if I delete the app or lose my phone?
Because your letters live only on this device, they are precious and a little fragile. They are included in standard iOS backups (iCloud Backup or a Finder backup) if you have those enabled, so keeping the app installed and your iPhone backed up is how future you will be able to read them. If you delete Laterlace without a backup, the letters are removed with the app. The optional keepsake PDF export exists so you can keep a readable copy of your letters elsewhere.
Laterlace is a general-audience keepsake app intended for personal use. It collects no information from anyone, including children.
If a future release ever introduces any feature that would change how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that release ships, and any such feature would be clearly described in the app. As of this version, Laterlace collects no data and makes no network calls except for Apple in-app purchase verification.
