Agreeing to use the app
Downloading or using LongPace (the "App") means you accept these Terms of Service. Do not use the App if you do not accept them. The App is published by an independent iOS developer under Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F; the words "we," "us," and "our" below refer to that developer.
What LongPace is — and what it is not
LongPace is a personal records organizer for people living with Long COVID, ME-CFS, and/or POTS. You enter information about your conditions, daily DSQ-SF scores, NASA Lean Test orthostatic measurements, cognitive test scores, functional capacity, medical encounters, and any provider documents you attach. The App helps you organize that information and (on the Pro tier) compile it into PDF reports for your own use, including reports formatted for SSA disability evaluators, private LTD plan administrators, treating physicians, and CPET-performing cardiologists.
LongPace is not medical advice, legal advice, insurance advice, or financial advice. It does not diagnose Long COVID, ME-CFS, POTS, fibromyalgia, dysautonomia, MCAS, or any medical condition. DSQ-SF Total Scores, IOM 2015 SEID criteria status, NASA Lean Test outcomes, POTS criteria status, and simplified PASAT / DSST scores are self-reported informational records computed on your device by rule-based calculations — they are not clinical diagnoses, not official medical assessments, and not substitutes for clinician-administered testing (e.g., tilt-table testing, clinical neuropsychological assessment, CPET). PDF reports generated by the App are personal records, not official medical documentation, not SSA-3373 Function Reports (those must be completed personally by the applicant), not formal insurance appeal documentation, and not legal records. For diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition, consult a licensed physician. For SSDI / SSI / LTD applications and appeals, consult a licensed disability attorney, accredited disability advocate, or non-attorney disability representative authorized by the Social Security Administration. LongPace is not affiliated with the Social Security Administration, the Disability Determination Services, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, any state Vocational Rehabilitation agency, any insurance company, any healthcare provider, DePaul University, the Bateman Horne Center, the Open Medicine Foundation, Solve ME, the ME Action Network, the Long COVID Research Initiative, Visible Health Inc., or any academic, advocacy, or commercial organization.
Pro tier: cost, billing, and cancellation
Free tier
The App is free to download and use. The free tier includes one condition with diagnosis details, 30 days of basic PEM scoring, a basic chronological timeline view, basic HealthKit HR / step / sleep / HRV reading on the Home Dashboard, Face ID / Touch ID app lock, and one-tap JSON full-archive export and restore. Records live on your device only. Your archive is protected from device loss by Apple's standard device backup (iCloud Backup or iTunes / Finder).
Pro products
Pro features unlock when you start the Pro Annual subscription or purchase Pro Lifetime. Two products are offered:
- Pro Annual — $29.99 per year, with a 14-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
- Pro Lifetime — $149 one-time non-consumable purchase.
Both products unlock the identical set of Pro features. Prices shown are USD; Apple displays the equivalent local price at purchase time.
Annual auto-renewal and billing
Pro Annual automatically renews until canceled. Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before that end. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Manage or cancel from iOS Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Refunds for the unused portion of an active period are not offered by LongPace; refund eligibility is determined solely by Apple under its published policies.
Free trial forfeiture
If you start the Annual free trial and cancel during the trial, you keep Pro access through the end of the trial period and are not charged. If you do not cancel, the subscription begins at the end of the trial at the published price.
No cloud storage
LongPace stores every record on your device only. The App does not use iCloud sync, CloudKit, or any cloud storage operated by us or any third party. The archive is protected from device loss by Apple's standard device backup (iCloud Backup or iTunes / Finder) when you enable it — that backup is operated by Apple under your Apple ID, not by us. Every user (Free or Pro) can additionally export the entire archive as a JSON file via Settings > Privacy & Backup > Export full archive for portable offline backup, and re-import it on a new device or after a reinstall. Data portability is a trust commitment, never gated.
Pro Lifetime (one-time purchase)
Pro Lifetime is a non-consumable in-app purchase. There is no recurring charge. The purchase unlocks the same Pro feature set as Pro Annual and persists for the life of the App on every device signed into your Apple ID. Refunds are governed solely by Apple under its published policies.
Pro feature behavior
Pro provides the features below. The behavior described here is binding — if a future App update materially changes any of these descriptions, this section will be revised.
- DePaul Symptom Questionnaire-Short Form daily log: a 14-symptom structured questionnaire with frequency and severity sliders. The implementation is based on publicly available academic research from DePaul University's Center for Community Research; LongPace is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by DePaul University. The Total DSQ Score and IOM 2015 SEID criteria check are rule-based calculations and are not clinical diagnoses.
- NASA Lean Test: a 10-minute orthostatic-challenge protocol with 5 minutes supine and 10 minutes standing measurement. The implementation is based on publicly available protocol from the Bateman Horne Center; LongPace is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Bateman Horne Center. Maximum HR delta and POTS criteria check are rule-based calculations and are not clinical diagnoses. When HealthKit auto mode is enabled, heart-rate samples are read locally from HealthKit and processed on-device; no health data is transmitted to any server.
- SSA Function Report companion PDF: compiles locally-stored records into a single PDF aligned with the format of the U.S. Social Security Administration's Form SSA-3373 sections IV and V. Generation runs on-device; no record content is transmitted. The PDF is a personal organizational tool, not an official SSA-3373 Function Report (which must be completed personally by the user). LongPace is not affiliated with the Social Security Administration.
- LTD Appeal Packet PDF: compiles locally-stored records into a single PDF with an evidence summary formatted for use during a private long-term disability appeal window. The countdown timer is informational only; users are responsible for confirming the applicable appeal deadline with their plan administrator or attorney. Generation runs on-device; no record content is transmitted. The PDF is a personal organizational tool, not formal insurance appeal documentation or legal records.
- Cognitive crash log: simplified Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT) and Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) implementations running entirely on-device. Scores are informational self-recorded data, not a clinical neuropsychological assessment.
- Unlimited conditions and logs: Pro subscribers may track an unlimited number of conditions and unlimited DSQ-SF, NASA Lean Test, cognitive, and capacity log entries.
- CPET 2-day Test Preparation Pack PDF: compiles 30-plus days of locally-stored DSQ-SF, NASA Lean Test, cognitive, and HealthKit baseline data into a PDF formatted for a CPET-performing provider. Generation runs on-device; no record content is transmitted.
- Comprehensive Functional Evidence Pack PDF: generates a complete archive PDF of every locally-stored condition, log, encounter, and document reference. Generation runs on-device; no record content is transmitted.
- Medical encounter log: optional structured fields for provider, specialty, encounter type, documented diagnoses, provider statements, documented MDI status, documented functional limitations, treatment plan, follow-up date, and attached document path. Stored locally with the matching condition. Provider quotes you record are your transcriptions and are not substitutes for clinician-confirmed medical documentation.
- Document Vault: uses Apple's VisionKit on-device for document scanning. Scans are stored locally with the matching record and never transmitted off-device.
The capabilities below are universal Free and never gated:
- App lock (Face ID / Touch ID): uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data never leaves Apple's Secure Enclave; the app receives only a success/failure result. Privacy is the brand promise; the lock is never sold.
- Basic HealthKit HR / step / sleep / HRV reading on the Home Dashboard. Advanced HealthKit usage (NASA Lean Test auto HR capture) is bundled with the NASA Lean Test Pro feature.
- 1 condition + 30 days of basic PEM scoring + basic chronological timeline.
- Full archive JSON backup: one-tap export and restore from Settings > Privacy & Backup. Generates a single human-readable JSON file representing your entire archive on-device, exchanged via the iOS Share Sheet or Files app. Data portability is a trust commitment, never gated.
What you agree to do
- You are responsible for the accuracy of every record, value, photo, attribution, and self-reported score you enter.
- You are responsible for consulting a qualified physician for medical decisions, a licensed attorney or disability advocate for SSDI / LTD-related legal questions, and your insurance carrier for plan-specific policy interpretation. LongPace is not a substitute for any of those professionals.
- You are responsible for maintaining iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or iTunes / Finder) so that archive data survives device loss. LongPace has no remote copy on our servers and cannot restore data we never received.
- You will not use the App for any purpose other than personal documentation of your own health records (or records you are otherwise lawfully entitled to maintain on behalf of a person for whom you provide care).
Warranty disclaimer and limit of liability
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, through Apple, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, denied SSDI / SSI / LTD claims, denied insurance appeals, lost income, disease progression, or any clinical, legal, or financial outcome. Reports generated by the App are tools for your use; we do not guarantee that any clinician, insurer, attorney, disability advocate, SSA evaluator, or government agency will accept them.
Apple EULA reference
Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms govern as between you and us; the Apple EULA governs as between you and Apple.
Updates to these terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
