Marksworth Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-25 · Last updated: 2026-06-25

In one sentence. Marksworth keeps your trademarks, your dated use-in-commerce evidence, any specimen photos you attach, your maintenance deadlines, and your challenge notes on your iPhone — there is no Marksworth account, no Marksworth server, no analytics, and no connection to USPTO systems or any cloud. The only time the app uses the network is to ask Apple's StoreKit whether your subscription is active.

1. Who publishes Marksworth

Marksworth is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. Where your records live

Everything you enter is stored locally in the app's SwiftData store on your iPhone: each trademark (mark text, registration number, international class, first-use and registration dates, status), each dated use-in-commerce entry (date, goods/services class, use type, note), any specimen photos you attach to an entry, your maintenance deadlines, and your challenge records. The developer cannot read, restore, or move this data. It is included in your standard iOS Backup (iCloud Backup or Finder) when those are enabled — that is Apple's normal device-backup behavior, not a Marksworth feature.

3. Specimen photos

Attaching a specimen of use is optional. When you choose to add one, the app uses Apple's camera or photo picker and stores the image you select inside its own local data store as an attachment to that evidence entry. Photos are display-only attachments; they are never uploaded, never analyzed, and never leave your device except when you yourself share or export them. If you never attach a photo, the app never touches your camera or library.

4. No external services, no USPTO connection

Marksworth makes no API calls to the USPTO, TSDR, TEAS, the TTAB, INTA, or any government or third-party system. It contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, and no AI service. The Lanham Act, USPTO maintenance, and TTAB procedure content in the app is a static, rule-based reference set bundled in the binary and updated only through ordinary App Store releases. Deadline countdowns and reminders are computed on your device from the dates you enter; nothing about that calculation is sent anywhere.

5. On-device features that use Apple frameworks

6. Subscriptions and StoreKit

Marksworth offers an optional Pro tier (an annual subscription and a monthly subscription) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, restore a purchase, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple. Marksworth receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. The developer never sees your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Permissions the app requests

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings > Marksworth. The app requests no location, no microphone, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission, and includes no user-tracking (no NSUserTrackingUsageDescription). There is no PDF or file import.

8. What Marksworth is not

Marksworth is a personal record-keeping and reference tool for trademark owners. It is not affiliated with the USPTO, the TTAB, or INTA, and not affiliated with any trademark law firm or filing service. It is not a law firm and provides no legal representation. It does not provide legal advice, does not determine whether a mark has been abandoned, does not predict TTAB outcomes, and does not file anything with the USPTO. References to the Lanham Act and USPTO/TTAB procedure are based on publicly available law and are reference-only; verify current requirements with a trademark attorney or the USPTO.

9. Children's privacy

Marksworth is a tool for U.S. adults who own or manage federally registered trademarks. The developer does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

10. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Marksworth data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). If you delete the app without an iOS Backup available, your records and attached specimens cannot be recovered, because there is no remote copy.

11. Regional scope

Marksworth is published in English and marketed in the United States. Its reference content concerns U.S. federal trademark law. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.

12. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — this policy will be updated and the change surfaced in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
