By downloading or using NeighborLog (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F); references to "we," "us," and "our" mean that developer.
NeighborLog is a personal documentation tool for individuals in disputes with their neighbors. You enter information about incidents, communications, complaints, costs, witnesses, and your neighbor; the App helps you organize that information and generate reports for your own use, including a PDF formatted for review by mediators, attorneys, code enforcement officers, or small claims courts.
The Pro noise meter feature reads the average power level of incoming microphone audio in real time using Apple's AVAudioRecorder API and converts that reading to an approximate decibel value. The App does not record audio. No audio sample is written to disk, retained in memory beyond the active measurement window, or transmitted to any party. This design is intentional — it keeps the App outside the scope of two-party-consent recording statutes that apply in many U.S. states, including California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington, and others. The decibel readings produced by the App are not laboratory-calibrated and are not warranted to meet any acoustic measurement standard. They are intended for relative comparison and personal documentation only.
You may record information about your neighbor, witnesses, landlords, code enforcement officers, attorneys, and others as part of using the App. You alone are responsible for the lawful collection, storage, and use of all third-party information you enter into the App. This includes obtaining any consent required under applicable privacy, recording, harassment, or defamation laws in your jurisdiction. You will not use the App to plan, coordinate, or facilitate harassment, intimidation, threats, retaliation, vigilante action, doxing, or any unlawful act against any third party. The App is one-sided personal documentation; it is not a tool for confrontation.
The App is free to download and use with the following limits per dispute: 1 neighbor, up to 10 incidents, 1 photo per incident, up to 5 communications, up to 2 municipal complaints, up to 3 damage cost entries. Free users also get App Lock (Face ID / Touch ID), a basic single-page incident-summary PDF export, a Markdown timeline export, and the Neighbor Rights Reference Guide.
Pro features unlock when you start a Pro subscription. Two products are offered:
Both products unlock the same set of Pro features. Prices shown are USD; Apple displays the equivalent local price at purchase time.
Subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before that end. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. You can manage and cancel your subscription in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iOS device. Refunds for the unused portion of an active period are not offered by NeighborLog; refund eligibility is determined solely by Apple under its published policies.
If you start a free trial and cancel during the trial, you keep Pro access through the end of the trial period and are not charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription begins at the end of the trial at the published price.
Pro provides the following features. The behavior described here is binding on us — if a future App update materially changes any of these descriptions, we will revise this section.
Free-tier features include App Lock (Face ID / Touch ID), the basic incident-summary PDF, the Markdown timeline export, the home-screen widget, and the Neighbor Rights Reference Guide. These are part of our trust commitment to you and are not paywalled.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, through Apple, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, lost legal recoveries, dispute outcomes, or claims by your neighbor or any third party. Reports generated by the App are tools for your use; we do not guarantee that any court, mediator, or authority will accept them.
Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms govern as between you and us; the Apple EULA governs as between you and Apple.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
