PanicLog Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-04-19 · Last updated: 2026-04-19
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading or using PanicLog (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F); references to "we," "us," and "our" mean that developer.
2. What PanicLog is — and is not
PanicLog is a personal, private journaling tool for people who experience panic attacks and anxiety. You enter information about your own mental health experiences; the App helps you organize that information, practice CBT thought records, surface patterns in your own data, and generate a structured PDF report for your own use, including sharing with a therapist.
PanicLog is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice. It does not replace clinical evaluation by a licensed mental health professional. The GAD-7 feature is a standardized screening questionnaire only; its result is not a diagnosis. Trigger-symptom pattern analysis is a view of your own journal data using deterministic rules, not a clinical assessment. Medication tracking is purely for your personal record-keeping; the App does not provide medication advice.
If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US), the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), or emergency services (911). These resources are also always accessible from Settings inside the App.
3. Subscriptions and the Pro tier
3.1 Free tier
The App is free to download and use with the following limits: up to 5 panic episodes per calendar month, basic episode fields (date, severity, duration, triggers, notes), unlimited daily anxiety check-ins, three built-in breathing exercises, a 7-day anxiety trend view, and Face ID / Touch ID app lock.
3.2 Pro subscription
Pro features unlock when you start a Pro subscription. Two products are offered:
- Pro Annual — $29.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
- Pro Monthly — $4.99 per month, no trial.
Both products unlock the same set of Pro features. Prices shown are USD; Apple displays the equivalent local price at purchase time.
3.3 Auto-renewal and billing
Subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before that end. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. You can manage and cancel your subscription in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iOS device. Refunds for the unused portion of an active period are not offered by PanicLog; refund eligibility is determined solely by Apple under its published policies.
3.4 Free trial forfeiture
If you start a free trial and cancel during the trial, you keep Pro access through the end of the trial period and are not charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription begins at the end of the trial at the published price.
4. Pro features
Pro provides the following features. The behavior described here is binding on us — if a future App update materially changes any of these descriptions, we will revise this section.
- Unlimited entries: Pro subscribers may log an unlimited number of panic episodes and daily check-ins. Free tier is capped at 5 panic episodes per calendar month.
- Detailed episode log: Exposes the full body symptom, emotional symptom, coping method, effectiveness, location, and avoidance fields on the panic entry form. All fields stored locally with the episode record.
- CBT thought records: The standard 7-column cognitive behavioral therapy thought record form. Stored locally alongside your journal. No content is transmitted or used to train any model.
- Pattern insights: Rule-based analysis of your own entries to surface trigger-symptom correlations, coping effectiveness ranking, and cognitive distortion frequency. Computed entirely on-device. No AI or machine learning is used.
- Therapist-ready report: Generates a PDF document summarizing episodes, triggers, coping, GAD-7 scores, and medications over a selected date range. Generation runs on-device; no journal content is transmitted.
- Trend charts: Computed from local journal data using Swift Charts. No analytics events are transmitted to any server.
- GAD-7 self-assessment: The standardized 7-question Generalized Anxiety Disorder screening questionnaire. Informational only. This is a screening tool, not a medical diagnosis, and is not a substitute for clinical evaluation.
- Medication tracking: Optional medication log with before/after comparison against panic frequency and severity. Informational only. The app does not provide medication advice.
- Grounding exercise: A guided 5-4-3-2-1 senses technique. No data is collected during the exercise.
- Data export: CSV files generated on-device. No journal content is transmitted during export.
- Widget: Reads from local data only via App Group container. Widget text uses neutral phrasing (e.g., "4 days strong") and never displays the words "panic" or "attack".
5. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of every value, note, and rating you enter.
- You are responsible for maintaining device backups (iCloud or iTunes) so that journal data survives device loss. PanicLog has no remote copy of your data and cannot restore it.
- PanicLog is for your own personal use. Do not use the App to log data about another person without their knowledge and consent.
- If you are in crisis, use the crisis resources listed in Settings or contact emergency services. Do not rely on the App as a substitute for urgent mental health care.
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, through Apple, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, missed appointments, or any health outcome. Reports generated by the App are tools for your use; we do not guarantee that any clinician will accept or rely on them.
7. Apple End User License Agreement
Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms govern as between you and us; the Apple EULA governs as between you and Apple.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
