Pawchart Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Pawchart is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy-related question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, transmit to our servers, sell, share, or analyze:

• Your pets' names, photos, breed, microchip ID, or insurance details
• Your vaccine records, medication records, vet visit records, symptom logs, weight entries, allergies, or chronic conditions
• Your scanned documents (vaccine certificates, lab results, X-rays, prescriptions)
• Your veterinarian's name, phone, or clinic
• Your name, email, phone, or any account identifier
• Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for advertising or tracking purposes
• Location data
• Crash reports or analytics events sent to any third party

3. Information stored on your device

All data you enter is stored locally on your iOS device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have device backup enabled.

4. On-device processing

Several features process data locally on your device only:

• Document scanning uses Apple's VisionKit framework on-device. Scanned documents are stored locally and, if iCloud sync is enabled, replicated to your private iCloud database.
• Emergency QR generation uses Apple's Core Image framework. The QR is rendered on-device and contains your pet's emergency information inline (vCard format) — it does NOT point to any remote server, and scanning it works without network connectivity.
• PDF report generation (Pro) uses Apple's PDFKit on-device. No record content is transmitted during generation.
• App Lock (Pro) uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Your Face ID or Touch ID biometric data never leaves Apple's Secure Enclave; the app only receives a success or failure signal.
• Care reminders are scheduled via Apple's UserNotifications framework and fire locally on your device. No remote push servers are involved.
• Vaccine due-date scheduling uses a local catalog of typical schedules. No external API is consulted.

5. Subscriptions and StoreKit

Pawchart offers an optional Pro subscription via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, restore a purchase, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Pawchart receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5a. iCloud sync (optional, ON by default)

Pawchart uses Apple's CloudKit framework to replicate your records to your private iCloud account so that your pet's medical chart survives device loss and is available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. iCloud sync is on by default because pet medical records are long-lived (10–15 years) and the cost of losing them is high. You can decline at the onboarding sync-choice screen, or turn sync off any time in Settings > Sync.

When sync is enabled, we have no access to the records — Apple's CloudKit private database is between you and your Apple ID. Apple's CloudKit private database is encrypted at rest and accessible only to you via your Apple ID. Apple may produce iCloud-stored content in response to valid legal process directed at Apple; this is the iCloud trade-off Apple's terms describe.

To stop syncing, toggle the switch off in Settings > Sync; existing records remain on the device(s) where they live but no further changes are uploaded. Records already in iCloud can be removed by deleting the app's data from iCloud (iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage > Pawchart).

Records you delete inside the app go to a 30-day "Recently Deleted" recovery window before being permanently removed (across all your synced devices, when sync is on).

6. Permissions the app requests

• Camera — only when you tap "Scan with camera" on a record (Pro) or import a pet photo.
• Photo Library — only when you tap "Import photo".
• Face ID — only after you enable App Lock in Settings (Pro).
• Notifications — only after you enable care reminders.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Pawchart.

7. Children's privacy

Pawchart is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. The app's age rating reflects this.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored on your devices (and optionally in your private iCloud), you control retention completely. To delete all records, delete the app from your devices and remove its data from iCloud (iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage > Pawchart). There is no remote copy on our servers, because we have no servers.

9. International users

The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data to us at all. The app is published in English and is primarily marketed in North America.

10. Not veterinary advice

Pawchart is a personal records organizer. It does not provide veterinary advice, diagnose health conditions, recommend medications, calculate drug interactions, or replace your veterinarian. Vaccine schedules, body condition references, and symptom severity selectors in the app are general references only — always consult a licensed veterinarian for decisions about your pet's care.

11. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before you can use any new behavior. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
