Pinward Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-10 · Last updated: 2026-07-10

In one sentence. Pinward keeps your round audits, skill assessments, drill results, and practice sessions on your iPhone and nowhere else — there is no Pinward account, no Pinward server, and no analytics. The only moment the app touches the network is when Apple's StoreKit checks whether your Pro purchase is active.

1. Who makes Pinward

Pinward is made by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. The privacy story, as plain questions

Is there a Pinward server holding my rounds and practice history?

No. There is no Pinward server. Your audits, assessments, drill results, sessions, and profile live in this app's local SwiftData store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.

Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?

No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier. We do not know how often you open Pinward, which screens you visit, how many rounds you audit, or whether you subscribed — beyond Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.

How are my leak numbers and plans computed?

Entirely on your iPhone, with deterministic rule-based logic. The app compares the facts you enter for each round against a set of benchmark tables bundled with the app, estimates strokes lost per category, ranks your leaks, and generates a practice session from the minutes and facility you specify. Those benchmark tables are in-house approximations — labeled as such in the app and editable by you. Every leak, trend, and transfer figure is framed as an estimate with its sample size. Nothing about these calculations is sent anywhere.

Does Pinward use sensors, GPS, a course database, or tour data?

No. Pinward is sensor-free. It has no location access, connects to no shot-tracking hardware, and contains no course database or professional-tour data. The only inputs are the facts you tap in.

Does anything go to my iCloud or Apple ID?

Pinward does not declare the iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no cross-device sync. Your data is included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder) when you have those enabled — that is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data, not a Pinward feature.

3. What the app stores on your device

This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when you have those enabled. We do not have access to your iOS Backups — only Apple does, under their published terms. If you delete Pinward without an iOS Backup available, your data is permanently lost. Beyond sharing a single audit or result to the iOS Share Sheet, the app has no built-in bulk export, import, or backup feature.

4. On-device features that use system frameworks

5. Subscriptions and StoreKit

Pinward offers an optional Pro tier (a one-time Lifetime purchase and Yearly and Monthly subscriptions) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you purchase, restore, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Pinward receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions the app requests

You can revoke either permission at any time in iOS Settings > Pinward. Pinward requests no camera, no microphone, no photo library, no location, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission.

7. What Pinward is not

Pinward is a personal golf-practice tool. It does not provide swing-mechanics instruction — it organizes what to practice and scores it. It makes no guarantee that your handicap, scores, or leaks will improve; the numbers it shows are measurements from your own entries, framed as estimates. Its benchmark tables are in-house approximations, not figures copied from any published research, and are editable. Pinward is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any golf association, equipment maker, course, or coaching system, and the handicap figures it derives are the app's own measurements, not ratings issued by any association.

8. Children's privacy

Pinward is a general-audience practice tool for golfers. It contains no accounts and collects no information from anyone, including children.

9. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete everything, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.

10. Regional scope

Pinward is published in English and marketed first in the United States, with the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada as strong secondaries. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version were ever to introduce any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
