ServeLog Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-11 · Last updated: 2026-05-11
Short version: ServeLog stores your records — employment, monthly payments, ECF submissions, servicer count snapshots, servicer transitions, IDR recertifications, and pay-stub photos — on your devices. If you keep iCloud sync enabled (the default for ServeLog), the archive is also stored in your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. We have no servers and no analytics. We never see your archive. The only network communication the app performs is with Apple's StoreKit servers (subscription verification) and, while iCloud sync is enabled, with Apple's CloudKit servers under your Apple ID.
1. Who we are
ServeLog is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy-related question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit to our servers, store on a server we operate, sell, share, or analyze:
- Your employment records, employer names, employer types, FEINs, HR contacts, hours per week, or notes
- Your monthly payments, payment dates, amounts, payment methods, servicer names, IDR plans, hold-month markers, PSLF count statuses, pay-stub photos, or servicer-statement screenshots
- Your ECF submissions, submission dates, employer certifications, hours, approvals, months counted, or attached PDFs
- Your servicer count snapshots, servicer-displayed counts, sources, screenshots, or notes
- Your servicer transitions, count-before / count-after entries, discrepancy notes, or communications you record
- Your IDR recertifications, family size, annual income, monthly payment, or tax-return year
- Your name, email, phone, or any account identifier
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for advertising or tracking purposes
- Location data
- Crash reports or analytics events sent to any third party
We have no servers. The fields above never reach us.
3. Information stored on your device
All archive data you enter is stored locally on your iOS device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have device backup enabled.
4. On-device processing
Several features process data locally on your device only:
- Document and photo handling uses Apple's PhotosUI on-device.
- PDF report generation (Forgiveness Evidence Pack, Annual Tax Pack, Forgiveness Anniversary Booklet) uses Apple's PDFKit on-device. No archive content is transmitted during generation.
- App Lock uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Your Face ID or Touch ID biometric data never leaves Apple's Secure Enclave; the app only receives a success or failure signal.
- ECF and IDR recertification reminders are scheduled via Apple's UserNotifications framework and fire locally on your device. No remote push servers are involved.
5. Subscriptions and StoreKit
ServeLog offers an optional Pro subscription and a one-time Lifetime IAP via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, purchase Lifetime, restore a purchase, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. ServeLog receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
5a. iCloud sync (optional, ON by default for ServeLog)
ServeLog supports optional iCloud sync using Apple's CloudKit private database. Because ServeLog is a 10-year archive that cannot be reconstructed if a device is lost, sync defaults to ON during onboarding (the choice is presented before any data is uploaded). When enabled:
- Your archive (employment records, monthly payments, ECF submissions, servicer count snapshots, servicer transitions, IDR recertifications, pay-stub and servicer-statement photos) is stored in your own private CloudKit database, scoped to your Apple ID.
- This database is end-to-end protected under Apple's standard CloudKit terms. We have no access to it. We cannot read, list, modify, or delete your records.
- Syncing occurs between your devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) signed into the same Apple ID. No third party is involved. ServeLog never transmits your records to any servicer, the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, or any other party.
- You can disable sync at any time in Settings > Sync. Disabling stops further syncing; existing CloudKit copies remain in your iCloud until you remove them via iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
6. Permissions the app requests
- Photo Library — only when you tap "Add pay stub", "Add servicer screenshot", or "Add snapshot screenshot".
- Face ID / Touch ID — only after you enable App Lock in Settings.
- Notifications — only after you enable ECF and IDR reminders in Settings.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings > ServeLog.
7. No automatic forgiveness eligibility, no advice
ServeLog never auto-calculates forgiveness eligibility, never recommends a repayment plan, never auto-fills any application, and never connects to any servicer, the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, or any third party. All values, dates, counts, statuses, and notes you see in the app are values you entered.
8. Children's privacy
ServeLog is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. The app's age rating reflects this.
9. Data retention and deletion
You control retention completely. To delete archive data on a device, delete the app from that device or use Settings > Recently Deleted > Permanently Delete (after the 30-day soft-delete window). To delete iCloud copies, disable sync and remove ServeLog data via iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage. There is no remote copy on our servers for us to delete because we do not have servers.
10. International users
The app is published in English and is primarily marketed in North America. Because we operate no servers, we do not transfer your data internationally. iCloud sync routing is governed by Apple under your Apple ID.
11. Not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education or any servicer
ServeLog is a personal records organizer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, MOHELA, or any loan servicer. Trademarks are property of their respective owners. ServeLog does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice and is not a substitute for licensed professionals. For questions about your loan account, contact your servicer directly. For Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility, consult Federal Student Aid.
12. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before you can use the affected feature. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
