Where do my royalty records live?
On your iPhone, in this app's local SwiftData store. There is no Tallowe server. Your deals, statements, variance entries, audit-clause dates, and attached photos never leave the device through Tallowe. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.
Does Tallowe pull my reported figures from anywhere?
No. This is the defining design choice. Tallowe connects to no publisher, label, distributor, or platform, and to no aggregator or royalty service such as a sales-tracking provider. It performs no automatic import. Every expected figure is your own estimate, and every reported figure is copied by you from your paper or PDF statement. The app stores the difference; it does not fetch data and does not value any market.
What about the photos I attach to a statement?
Photos you capture with the camera or choose from your library are stored locally as display-only attachments to a period statement. They are never uploaded. Camera and Photo Library access are requested only at the moment you tap to add a photo, and only if you use that optional Pro feature. There is no file or PDF import and no document library.
Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?
No. Tallowe contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier, and it works out your variance with ordinary on-device arithmetic. We do not know how often you open the app, which screens you visit, how many deals you track, or whether you subscribed - except through Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.
How does the royalty audit-clause reference work?
Entirely on your iPhone. The reference describes general conventions for royalty audit clauses - materiality thresholds, who bears the audit cost when underpayment exceeds a threshold, and lookback periods - drawn from publicly available material and updated through ordinary App Store releases. It is general reference, not legal or audit advice about your contract, and nothing about reading it is sent anywhere.
Does anything go to iCloud?
Tallowe declares no iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no remote sync. Your records - including photos - are included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder) when you have those enabled. That is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data, not a Tallowe feature.
These figures are royalty amounts you already possess, not financial-account data, and no government ID is involved. This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when enabled; we have no access to those backups - only Apple does, under its published terms. If you delete the app without an iOS Backup available, this data is removed from the device with no in-app recovery. There is no in-app export, import, or backup feature beyond the Evidence PDF you generate.
aps-environment entitlement.Tallowe offers an optional Pro tier (a monthly subscription and an annual subscription) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you subscribe, restore a purchase, or the app verifies entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Tallowe receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of subscription information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings > Tallowe. Tallowe requests no location, microphone, contacts, or HealthKit permission.
Tallowe is a personal record-keeping and reference tool for creators tracking their own royalties. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any publisher, label, distributor, platform, or royalty service, and is not affiliated with the Authors Guild or any creator organization. It uses no such logo or mark, submits records to no external system, and is not a law firm or an accounting firm. It does not provide legal or audit advice, does not determine whether underpayment occurred, does not predict audit outcomes, and does not perform any audit.
Tallowe is a professional tool intended for U.S. adults with royalty contracts. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Tallowe data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.
Tallowe is published in English and marketed in the United States. The reference content describes general U.S. publishing and game royalty contract conventions. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.
If a future release ever changes how the app handles data - for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration - we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
