Whimscale is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.
Is there a Whimscale server holding my numbers?
No. There is no Whimscale server. The values you enter (such as your birthday, height, hourly pay, or daily steps) live in this app's local store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.
How are the comparisons calculated?
Entirely on your iPhone, with simple arithmetic. Each lens combines a value you typed with a fixed constant bundled in the app (for example, an average giraffe height or the Earth's circumference) and fills in a sentence. The whole calculation happens on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Do the heartbeat, breathing, and lifetime lenses read my real health data?
No. Whimscale never uses HealthKit and never measures anything about your body. Those numbers are playful estimates derived from a typical resting figure and the age you enter, labeled "fun estimate" in the app. They are entertainment, not measurements, and not medical information.
Do the money lenses connect to my bank or accounts?
No. There is no bank connection and no financial account access of any kind. The money lenses use only a rate or price you type in, and they are for fun, not financial advice.
Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?
No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier in the app. We do not know how often you open it, which lenses you view, or whether you bought the unlock, except through Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.
Does anything go to my iCloud or Apple ID?
No. Whimscale does not declare the iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no remote sync. Your data is included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder backup) when those are enabled - that is Apple's normal backup behavior for all on-device data, not a Whimscale feature.
This data is included in your standard iOS Backups when you have those enabled. We do not have access to your iOS Backups - only Apple does, under their published privacy terms. If you delete the app without an iOS Backup, your data is permanently lost. There is no in-app account, export, or sync.
aps-environment entitlement.Whimscale offers a single optional in-app purchase: a one-time unlock that opens all 44 lenses, via Apple's StoreKit 2. It is not a subscription. When you buy or restore the unlock, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Whimscale receives only the entitlement status (purchased or not) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings > Whimscale. Whimscale requests no camera, no microphone, no photo library, no location, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission.
Whimscale is an entertainment app. It is not a budgeting, banking, health, fitness, or medical tool, and it provides no financial, medical, legal, or professional advice. The money lenses are for fun, not financial advice; the heartbeat, breathing, and lifetime lenses are playful estimates, not measurements. The app uses no "time left to live" or lifespan framing.
Whimscale does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it collects nothing at all - everything stays on the device.
Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Whimscale data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.
Whimscale is published in English and marketed in the United States. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.
If a future release ever changes how the app handles data - for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration - we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
