Whitescribe Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-23 · Last updated: 2026-06-23

The short version. Whitescribe keeps your cases, writing-process evidence, communication log, and any photos you attach on your iPhone, and nowhere else. There is no Whitescribe account, no Whitescribe server, and no analytics. The only time the app reaches the network is to ask Apple's StoreKit servers whether your purchase is active. Whitescribe is for academic-integrity matters only.

1. Who publishes Whitescribe

Whitescribe is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. The privacy promise, answered as questions

Is there a Whitescribe server holding my case and my writing evidence?

No. There is no Whitescribe server. Your cases, writing-process evidence (version history, drafts, research notes, timeline), communication log, and references live in this app's local SwiftData store on your iPhone. We cannot read them, restore them, or move them.

The app lets me attach photos. Where do those go?

Onto your device, and only your device. When you photograph an accusation letter, an assignment, or a detector report — or import an existing image from your photo library — Whitescribe stores it in the app's local store on your iPhone and attaches it to the case or evidence item you chose. Photos are never uploaded. They are included in your standard iOS Backups along with the rest of your data when you have those enabled, because that is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data.

Does the app import PDFs or other files?

No. Whitescribe has no file or PDF import and no document library. The only file it creates is the Academic Integrity Defense PDF you choose to generate; it is built on demand and handed to the iOS Share Sheet, not retained on any server.

Does Whitescribe use AI to judge my work?

No. Whitescribe organizes what you enter and shows you each school's published procedure. It does not score, grade, classify, or judge your writing, and it does not decide whether an accusation is true or false. The per-school academic-integrity procedure content is bundled reference data we update through ordinary App Store releases. No part of this runs on a server.

Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?

No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier in the app. We do not know how often you open it, which screens you visit, how many cases you track, or whether you purchased — except through Apple's standard, aggregate developer sales reports.

Do you talk to my school, the integrity office, or an AI-detection company?

No. Whitescribe makes no API calls to any school, university, academic-integrity office, or AI-detection company (Turnitin, GPTZero, Copyleaks, and the like). Every reference to those organizations is bundled lookup content. The app cannot and does not submit anything, respond to anyone, or check a status on your behalf.

Does anything go to my iCloud or Apple ID?

No. Whitescribe does not declare the iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no remote sync. Your records are included in your standard iOS Backups (iCloud Backup or Finder/iTunes backup) when those are enabled — that is Apple's normal backup behavior for all on-device data, not a Whitescribe feature.

3. What the app stores on your device

This data, including attached photos, is included in your standard iOS Backups when you have those enabled. We do not have access to your iOS Backups — only Apple does, under their published privacy terms. If you delete the app without an iOS Backup available, your cases and attached photos are permanently lost, because there is no remote copy. There is no in-app data export, import, or backup feature beyond Defense PDF generation.

4. The accusation-type field never includes sexual misconduct

Whitescribe is built for academic-integrity matters only — AI-flag false positives, plagiarism allegations, exam-cheating allegations, and honor-code violations. It does not handle, and contains no field, list option, or workflow for, Title IX or sexual-misconduct matters. We mention this here because it is a deliberate scope boundary of the product.

5. On-device features that touch system frameworks

6. Purchases and StoreKit

Whitescribe offers an optional Pro tier (a monthly subscription and a one-time Case Pack) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you purchase, restore, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. Whitescribe receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Permissions the app requests

You can revoke any of these at any time in iOS Settings > Whitescribe. Whitescribe requests no microphone, no location, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission, and includes no user-tracking.

8. What Whitescribe is not

Whitescribe is a personal record-keeping and reference tool for a student documenting an academic-integrity matter. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any school, university, or academic institution; any AI-detection company; or any legal service. It does not provide legal advice, does not determine whether an accusation is true or false, does not predict a hearing outcome, and does not write your appeal or guarantee any result. References to a school's academic-integrity procedure are based on publicly available content and are reference-only; always confirm current procedure with your school.

9. Children's privacy

Whitescribe is intended for U.S. college students and the parents helping them. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because the app collects nothing — all data stays on the user's device.

10. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all Whitescribe data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS Backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for us to delete.

11. Regional scope

Whitescribe is published in English and marketed in the United States. The reference content covers U.S. higher-education academic-integrity procedures. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.

12. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
