By downloading or using BillWitness (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F); references to "we," "us," and "our" mean that developer.
BillWitness is a personal long-term medical bill audit and evidence vault. You enter information about medical bills, EOBs, line items, communications, and supporting documents; the App helps you organize that information and generate PDF reports for your own use.
The App is free to download and use with the following limits: 1 provider, up to 10 bill records, and a basic timeline view. Each bill in the Free tier supports unlimited itemized line items and unlimited EOB entries. Face ID / Touch ID app lock and the JSON archive backup + restore are universal-Free features. The Free tier does not include the 5 PDF complaint packs, the CPT/HCPCS autocomplete catalog, the NSA IDR tracker, the three-way reconciliation card, or the Document Vault.
Pro features unlock when you start a Pro subscription or purchase Lifetime. Three products are offered:
All three products unlock the same set of Pro features. Prices shown are USD; Apple displays the equivalent local price at purchase time.
Auto-renewable subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before that end. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. You can manage and cancel your subscription in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iOS device. Refunds for the unused portion of an active period are not offered by BillWitness; refund eligibility is determined solely by Apple under its published policies. The Lifetime in-app purchase is a one-time charge and does not auto-renew.
If you start a free trial and cancel during the trial, you keep Pro access through the end of the trial period and are not charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription begins at the end of the trial at the published price.
BillWitness does not provide cloud sync, server-side storage, or remote backup of your records. All data lives on your device. The Archive Backup feature (universal-Free) lets you export a JSON archive file to any destination of your choice (Files, AirDrop, email, USB) and re-import it later. We never see the file. We strongly recommend keeping Apple device backup (iCloud Backup or iTunes / Finder) on to protect your archive against device loss.
Pro provides the following features. The behavior described here is binding on us — if a future App update materially changes any of these descriptions, we will revise this section.
The following capabilities are available to every user regardless of subscription state. We do not gate them because they are foundational trust commitments rather than feature value:
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, through Apple, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, lost insurance recoveries, lost tax deductions, missed regulatory deadlines, or claim disputes. PDFs generated by the App are tools for your use; we do not guarantee that any insurance commissioner, CFPB, attorney, IDR entity, or tax authority will accept them.
Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, these Terms govern as between you and us; the Apple EULA governs as between you and Apple.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in California, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
