Completed school records use local SwiftData storage; portfolio photo files and App preferences are also kept on your device. Depending on your settings, a completed Apple device backup may include this local data. We cannot access or restore your device backups.
Device-backup contents and recovery depend on your system settings, a successfully completed usable backup and Apple’s restoration process; enabling backup alone does not guarantee recovery of every record or original file. We cannot retrieve or restore your device backups.
To let you resume first-time setup, the App saves a separate local draft containing the entered student name, optional birth date, grade and learning setting, school-year dates and goals, state and selected subjects. This draft uses iOS file protection and is explicitly excluded from device backup. It is not sent to the widget, a developer server or a cloud-sync service. The App attempts to remove the draft after completing setup; confirmed Start over replaces the unfinished draft without deleting previously committed school records. Do not rely on a device backup to recover unfinished setup.

The app ships with a bundled JSON file containing homeschool compliance summaries for all 50 US states and DC. This data is updated through App Store releases, not a live server. The app does not call any external service to load state information. Compliance summaries are informational only and are not legal advice; please consult your state's department of education for authoritative requirements.
HomeschoolLog offers an Annual auto-renewing subscription and a one-time Lifetime purchase through Apple’s StoreKit. Verified active historical Monthly subscriptions remain recognized. Loading products, checking offer eligibility, purchasing, restoring and verifying access communicate with Apple. The App processes verified product and transaction information, including expiry or revocation where applicable, and keeps local access state. Apple handles payment; we do not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password. Restoring purchase access does not restore school records. See the Terms for the current plans and billing conditions.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings > HomeschoolLog.
HomeschoolLog is intended for use by homeschool parents and educators, not by children directly. Records entered about minor students (name, date of birth, grade level, photos of work) are stored only on the parent's device. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone — including children — because the app has no data collection at all.
Open a student or school-year edit screen in Settings to review and confirm deletion. These controls are available without Pro, including for archived years. Deleting a school year removes its supported attendance, activities, portfolio, reading and course records while keeping the student and other years. Deleting a student removes that profile and its school years and linked records. The review screen shows what will be removed. The current App has no separate Settings “Delete all data” shortcut and no Recently Deleted recovery.
After the database deletion succeeds, unused portfolio photo files are cleaned up. If a file cannot be removed immediately, a local queue of filenames can remain and cleanup is retried on a later launch; files still referenced by retained records are preserved. Widget summaries and local reminder schedules are refreshed for the remaining selection. Original photos in the system library, exported PDF/CSV files and older device backups are separate and are not erased by deleting App records. PDF and CSV exports cannot be imported to reconstruct the database. Removing the App removes its local container; we hold no developer-operated recovery copy.
The App does not route records through a developer-operated record server. Apple services, legal-page hosting, support correspondence and any sharing destination you choose may process information outside your country under their own policies. Those services are separate from the App’s local record storage. The app is published in English and is primarily marketed in the United States.
If we ever change how the app handles data — for example, if a future version adds an opt-in cloud backup feature — we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before you can use that feature. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

Opening a page sends ordinary request information, such as the IP address, browser information and requested URL, to the host for delivery and security; see Vercel’s Privacy Notice. This website request is separate from App record storage. If you email support, we receive the address and information you choose to send so we can respond. Send only the details needed for that request.
