KnotProof Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-02 · Last updated: 2026-07-02

The short version. KnotProof keeps your vendor records, contract notes, dispute timeline, and any photos you attach on your iPhone, and nowhere else. There is no KnotProof account and no KnotProof server. The app reaches the network only to ask Apple's StoreKit servers whether your purchase is active. Nothing you record — including photos and the evidence packs you generate — is uploaded anywhere by KnotProof.

1. Who publishes KnotProof

KnotProof is published by an independent iOS developer (Apple Developer Team ID ZM8LF8494F). For any privacy question, write to captainlongevity@gmail.com.

2. The privacy promise, answered as questions

Is there a KnotProof server holding my dispute records?

No. There is no KnotProof server. Your vendors, contract promises, dispute events, timeline, and attached photos live in this app's local store on your iPhone. The developer cannot read them, restore them, or move them.

What about the photos I attach as evidence?

Photos you attach to a dispute event are copied into the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded to any server by KnotProof. They appear in an evidence pack only when you generate one, and that pack goes wherever you send it through the iOS Share Sheet.

Does the app upload the evidence-pack PDF anywhere, or submit it to my card issuer or a court?

No. The evidence pack is generated on your iPhone with Apple's PDFKit at the moment you tap to build it, then handed to the iOS Share Sheet. You choose where it goes — Mail, Files, Messages, your attorney. KnotProof submits nothing to any card issuer, court, vendor, or agency on your behalf.

Do you collect analytics, crash logs, or an advertising identifier?

No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising identifier in the app. The developer does not know how often you open KnotProof, which screens you visit, how many vendors you track, or whether you purchased — beyond Apple's standard, aggregate sales reports.

How does the app decide which deadlines to remind me about?

Entirely on your iPhone. KnotProof counts the days until the chargeback deadline (from the deposit charge date you enter) and schedules local reminders through Apple's notification framework. The deadline reference content (typical chargeback windows and state small-claims dollar limits) is bundled data updated through ordinary App Store releases. Nothing about this is sent anywhere.

Does anything go to my iCloud or Apple ID?

KnotProof does not declare the iCloud entitlement; there is no CloudKit container and no remote sync. Your records are included in your standard iOS backup (iCloud Backup or Finder) when you have that enabled — that is Apple's normal backup behavior for on-device data, not a KnotProof feature.

3. What the app stores on your device

This data is included in your standard iOS backup when you have it enabled. The developer has no access to your iOS backups — only Apple does, under Apple's published terms. Aside from generating and sharing an evidence-pack PDF, the app has no in-app export, import, or backup feature.

4. On-device features that touch system frameworks

5. Purchases and StoreKit

KnotProof offers optional paid access (a one-time Full Access purchase and a monthly subscription) via Apple's StoreKit 2. When you purchase, restore a purchase, or when the app verifies your entitlement, your device communicates directly with Apple's servers. KnotProof receives only the entitlement status (active or inactive) and a purchase identifier. The developer does not see your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or transaction history. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions the app requests

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings > KnotProof. KnotProof requests no location, no microphone, no HealthKit, and no contacts permission.

7. What KnotProof is not

KnotProof is a personal recordkeeping tool for people documenting a dispute with a wedding or event vendor. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any vendor, venue, credit-card issuer, court, or government agency. It uses no third-party logo or mark, submits records to no one, and provides no legal advice or any guarantee that a record will satisfy a card issuer, an arbitrator, or a court. References to chargeback windows and small-claims dollar limits are based on publicly available information and are reference-only.

8. Children's privacy

KnotProof is intended for U.S. adults documenting a consumer dispute. The developer does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

9. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored only on your device, you control retention completely. To delete all KnotProof data, delete the app (and remove it from any iOS backups you have saved). There is no remote copy for the developer to delete.

10. Regional scope

KnotProof is published in English and marketed in the United States. The reference data (chargeback windows and small-claims dollar limits) is U.S.-specific. The app does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data anywhere.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for example, if a later version ever introduces any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — this policy will be updated and the change surfaced in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
