A contemporaneous audit-defense organizer for small businesses notified of a state sales tax audit — Legal
Samplwitt is a personal recordkeeping and reference tool for a small-business owner who has been notified of a state sales tax audit. It logs each audit case with the tax authority, audit period, auditor, and notice date; organizes exemption certificates, resale certificates, and sales records; helps the owner assemble a written objection to the auditor's sampling method (sample period, seasonality, unrepresentativeness, a stratified-sample proposal, and an exhibit list); tracks the protest or redetermination deadline with optional reminders; lets the owner attach photos of a certificate or audit notice (camera or library); and generates an evidence PDF and a protest-preparation checklist. All data and photos stay on the owner's iPhone. It is not affiliated with any department of revenue, tax authority, or government agency; it calculates no tax or savings, connects to no bank, does not decide whether an audit finding is correct, files nothing on the owner's behalf, and provides no legal, tax, or accounting advice. Verify your deadline and process with your state's department of revenue or tax tribunal.
