Privacy Policy

Tabletally · Last updated: 8 July 2026

Short version: your shelf, score pads, plays, players, and loans live on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics, and no advertising. Tabletally has no server of its own and collects nothing. The only time the app reaches the internet is when you tap to look a game up on BoardGameGeek.

1. Who this covers

This policy describes how the Tabletally iOS app handles information. It applies to the app itself. It does not cover BoardGameGeek or any other website or service you may separately choose to visit.

2. What stays on your device

Everything you create in Tabletally is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device database: your game collection, the score pads you build, your logged plays and scores, your player profiles, your loan records, and any cover photos you add. Tabletally has no account system and no backend, so this information is never sent to us — we operate no server that could receive it, and we never see it.

3. The one optional network feature: BoardGameGeek lookup

Tabletally includes an optional lookup that you start by tapping a search button when adding a game. When you use it, the app sends only the search text (a game title) directly from your device to BoardGameGeek's public data interface, and receives back factual game attributes — player counts, playing time, year, and similar facts — which it caches on your device and displays with the attribution "Data courtesy of BoardGameGeek." No personal information, no scores, and no other part of your data is sent. This feature is entirely optional; the app is fully functional if you never use it and add every game by hand. Your use of BoardGameGeek is subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

4. Photos

If you attach a cover photo to a game, Tabletally asks for permission to add a photo, stores a small copy on your device with that game, and uses it nowhere else. Photos are never uploaded.

5. Notifications

Tabletally does not currently send notifications. If a future release adds a feature such as a loan return reminder, it would be scheduled as a local notification on your device through iOS, generated and delivered entirely on your device, with nothing about it sent anywhere.

6. Import and export

You can import a collection from a CSV file you provide (such as your own BoardGameGeek collection export) and export your collection and plays to CSV. These operations run on your device and use the file locations and share sheet you choose. A file you export goes wherever you send it — that destination is your choice, not ours.

7. What Tabletally does not do

8. App Store privacy label

Because the app collects no data and transmits nothing to us, its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected." The optional BoardGameGeek lookup sends only a search term you type, from your device to BoardGameGeek, and never to us.

9. Children

Tabletally is a hobby tool for a general audience and is not directed at children. Because it collects no information from anyone, it collects none from children.

10. Retention and deletion

Since everything is stored only on your device, you control it completely. Deleting a record removes it. To remove everything, delete the app (and remove it from any device backups you have kept). There is no remote copy for anyone to delete.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future release ever changes how the app handles data — for instance, if a later version ever adds any sync, analytics, or third-party integration — this policy will be updated and the change surfaced in the app before that feature becomes available. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
